๐ฏ️๐ฌ️When Your Nervous System Says “No” (But You Keep Saying “Yes”)
Some truths aren’t roared. They’re whispered through the body.
I used to think saying “yes” made me kind.
Now I know — it sometimes made me sick.
When my body whispered no,
I still packed the bag.
Still answered the message.
Still paid the cost.
Sometimes in money.
But more often, in energy.
In spirit. In trust.
In a part of myself that I had to fight to get back.
We don’t talk enough about what happens when we override our nervous systems out of habit.
Out of guilt.
Out of fear of being the “difficult one.”
Out of that old, sticky survival code that tells us:
“If you say yes, they’ll accept you. If you say no, you’ll lose love.”
I said yes to a trip recently.
But my nervous system said no — days before I even left.
And it wasn’t just a body reaction. It was spiritual. An old pattern dressed in new clothes.
I knew what I was walking into…
But I didn’t want to believe it would play out the same.
And yet… it did.
๐ The Reflector Lesson
When you’re a Reflector — or a highly sensitive being —
your body will always know first.
Your field doesn’t lie.
Your exhaustion, your inner shaking, your sudden flatness… it’s not “random.”
It’s wisdom.
And learning to trust that wisdom is the hardest part of healing — because it often means disappointing people who expect your yes to always be available.
๐ฏ️ A New Promise
So here’s my new vow:
I will stop saying yes to things that require me to betray myself to survive them.
Even if it’s not logical.
Even if “everyone else is fine with it.”
Even if I once said yes before.
I am allowed to change.
And so are you.
